Jay has traveled to more than one hundred politically, culturally, or geographically distinct areas around the globe, in which he has treasured his interactions with local inhabitants. Before he had
ever heard of the term, he was traveling in a socially responsible way.
Jay writes and takes photos while he is on the road. To read about his experiences, you can visit http://www.jaydavidson.blogspot.com. To see his photos, log on to http://jaydavidson.smugmug.com.
Jay's booklet, 301 Tips for
Socially Responsible Travelers, includes helpful information in
several areas of concern for travelers: getting ready, what to pack,
luggage, personal appearance, money, shopping, hotels, culture and
interaction with locals, food, health, safety, getting around, dating
and sex, and maintaining international connections. You can get an idea
about the contents of this informative booklet by reading the
introduction.
During many of Jay's journeys he has spent time visiting the homes of people who live where he travels. Likewise, he has hosted hundreds of travelers who have visited his home in San Franscisco and also in Nouakchott, Mauritania when he was a Peace Corps Volunteer.
Jay belongs to these groups that foster worldwide peace and understanding through home visits for travelers:
